¹ In some older English texts they are referred to as "Muhammadans" or "Mohammedans", but these terms are deprecated because they imply, incorrectly, that Muslims worship Muhammad, and so are offensive to many Muslims.

² The Egyptian Islamic Jihad terrorist group claims, as did a few long-extinct early medieval Kharijite sects, that Jihad is the "sixth pillar of Islam."
