Islands of the Arctic Ocean
The Arctic Ocean has several islands. Some are inhabited, others are completely covered in snow and ice and are uninhabitable.
Destinations
- Jan Mayen — home to a tiny radio & weather station
- North Pole — not an actually an island, just a shifting virtual point on a vast mass of ice
- Nova Zembla — nuclear test site
- Svalbard — by far the most visited island in the high Arctic
Get around
By plane
The only Arctic island with scheduled plane services is Longyearbyen in Svalbard, accessible on SAS flights from Tromso and Oslo, Norway.
