Hertfordshire is to the north of London and is easily accessible by train (from London Kings Cross or London Euston) or by any of the major roads heading north out of London. London's 3rd airport at Stansted connects to many international destinations, and connects to the train services, offering connecetions to London or Cambridge.

Rail links, as mentioned, run north-south but there are no services running eas-west across the county so the alternative is bus/coach travel or car
