A former Portuguese colony, Guinea-Bissau's post-independence history has been chequered. A civil war in 1998, followed by the imposition of a military junta in 1999 has been replaced with a multi-party democracy. The economy remains fragile, however hopes are high.

in the city you have vehicles that they call[toca-toca] cab for everybody who will stop as long as i go to pick up and drop up passanger.to travel fron city to city you have the [candongas]they big commercial vehicles carrying ten to twenty passanger [mini buses]tip make sure you get the front seats.rented vehicles four wheels car are available.
